Wrist locks require a fairly high level of training.
While they are effective in a violent attack against a large bad guy,
They are not the best choice.
Usually a set of strikes and kicks aimed at vulnerable parts of your attacker's body will have an impact more quickly.

Rotate your arm to the outside, get a grip on his wrist, use other arm to push down across the back of his arm at or near the triceps, step forward and bent him over. From that position you can slam him into the ground face first or kick him in the face.
