Defenses when sitting in a chair

The Major Elements in a Seated Defense:

• Get out of chair if possible, rotate in chair if cornered
• Preempt Attack
• Intercept  the strike or grab with soft block
• Move forward on an angle or pull him towards you on an angle.
• Strike and Kick ASAP
• Use locks if trained and comfortable with them. 
• Attacks from the rear, turn towards the attacker even if only part way and counter attack
